Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12/30/2025

CampusLoop LLC ("CampusLoop," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our website, mobile experience, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: (a) information you provide directly to us, (b) information collected automatically when you use the Service, and (c) information from third-party services you choose to connect.

a. Information you provide to us

  • Account information: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address (including your college .edu email address), campus, username, password, and similar information.
  • Profile information: You may choose to add additional details to your profile, such as a profile name, avatar image, or other optional information.
  • Listing information: When you create a listing, we collect information about the item you are selling, such as photos, title, description, price, category, campus, and any other details you provide.
  • Messaging and communications: If the Service supports messaging between buyers and sellers or other forms of communication (such as support requests), we may collect and store those messages in order to operate the Service and help address abuse, safety, or support issues.
  • Support and feedback: If you contact us directly (for example, for support or to provide feedback), we may receive your name, email address, campus, and the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide.

b. Information we collect automatically

  • Usage data: We may collect information about how you use the Service, such as the pages you view, listings you search for or interact with, actions you take, clicks, timestamps, and other similar usage information.
  • Device and log data: We may collect technical information about the device and browser you use, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, referral URLs, and error logs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, understand how you use the Service, and improve your experience. You may be able to adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, but doing so may limit certain features.
  • Analytics: We may use analytics tools (for example, web or product analytics services) to help us understand how the Service is used, diagnose technical issues, and improve performance and features.

c. Payment and billing information

When you purchase paid features (such as Pro seller plans, listing boosts, or other premium tools), payment processing is handled by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers. Payment information you provide is governed by the privacy policies of those third-party providers. We may receive limited information related to your payment, such as the last four digits of your card, transaction date, and payment status.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To create, maintain, and secure your account.
  • To verify your school affiliation, campus, and eligibility to use the campus-only aspects of the Service.
  • To operate and maintain the marketplace, including listing creation, search, recommendations, favorites, messaging, and analytics features.
  • To process your purchases of paid features, subscriptions, and other services, including billing, invoicing, and account management.
  • To communicate with you about your account, transactions, security alerts, and important updates to our policies or features.
  • To respond to your questions, requests, or feedback and provide customer support.
  • To monitor and help prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and other harmful or unsafe behavior.
  • To analyze how the Service is used and to improve, test, and develop new features, products, and services.
  • To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal obligations, and to protect our rights and the rights of others.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information about you in the following circumstances:

  • With other users: Certain information is visible to other users as part of the normal operation of the marketplace. For example, your listing details, campus, and seller profile information may be visible to other students at your school. Messages you send to other users may be visible to the recipients.
  • With service providers: We may share information with third-party companies that help us operate the Service, such as hosting providers, database and authentication providers, email and notification services, analytics providers, and payment processors. These service providers may only use your information as necessary to perform services on our behalf.
  • For safety, legal, and compliance: We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, a legal process, or a governmental request; to protect the safety, rights, or property of CampusLoop, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Business transfers: If CampusLoop is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy that provides comparable protection.
  • With your consent: We may share information with third parties when you direct us to do so or when you otherwise give us your consent.

4. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. The exact retention period may vary depending on the type of data and the applicable legal requirements. When information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete, anonymize, or aggregate it.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Account information: You may access and update certain account details through your account settings. Please keep your information accurate and up-to-date.
  • Listings and content: You may be able to edit or delete listings and other content you have posted, subject to any retention needed for safety, legal, or operational reasons.
  • Communications: We may send you transactional or service-related communications. You may also receive optional promotional messages; where applicable, you can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages.
  • Privacy rights: Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights under local law (such as the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information). You can contact us using the details in the "Contact Us" section below to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no online service or system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for choosing a strong password, keeping your login credentials confidential, and notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for college and university students and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, apps, or services that are not operated by CampusLoop. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of third-party services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with your information.

If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than those in your country.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice as required by law. Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
